Over last summer, some of us that were still in town before everyone started heading back to college or work went on a mountain hiking trip in the Mt. Hood wilderness area.

These squirrels are seriously not afraid of anything. If you put your gear down, they will try to look for food in it
But the thing that I liked best is an annual ski trip up to Mt. Hood in the winter. One family at our parish is part of a co-op lodge on the mountain, and we crash there for three days during ski season.
What are some of the activities that you have enjoyed at your churches? Leave comments; this should be interesting since everyone has their own background.

On New Year's Day, our GOYA would go to every home in our parish and sing the traditional Greek "Kalanda" (New Year's song) to the families. Although at the time we HATED getting up on New Year's morning to go out for the entire day, I remember that the older folks in our community loved hosting us and listening to us sing. They would give us greek pastries, food, and drinks. It was also a great fundraising opportunity.
Some events I enjoyed at the COe in Germany was that on Thursdays every week, one person would cook for all the rest some kind of food from the place she/he came from. I didn't enjoy much the day that I actually had to cook, but all the rest were much fun :) We would also go hiking, biking, and lake-swimming. Once, we took a bus for a tour in a historical city 2-3 hours away. We got to know each other better and learned about the place's history.
